Marijuana Is Not Spiritually Beneficial #1

While searching for Legalization of Marijuana on Google this morning, I clicked on the Debate.Org site: " Legalization of Marijuana: Is the use of marijuana spiritually beneficial?"

The three posts that claim the mind-altering drug is spiritually beneficial is a fallacy.  The assertion that one misconstrues a mind altering drug can put them in a spiritual high is a complete fallacy.  Increasing awareness or expanding a level of consciousness is  not the same as experiencing spirituality.  A person does not need  a mind altering drug to communicate with deity.

There are many cases wherea person's state of mind has been impaired by the use of  Marijuana, even to the point of being involved in serious crimes.   According to the article "Marijuana defense claimed as friend of Boston Bombing suspect goes on trial." "The friend of the Boston Marathon bomber Robel Phillipos, who  allegedly witnessed the removal of bombing case evidence,  was "high out of his mind," leaving his memory "jumbled," defense attorney Derege Demissie said in his opening argument at Phillipos's trial." The Boston Globe reported.

Marijuana slowly but surely steals the human soul because most users don't stop at recreational use.   Numbers are staggering for users enhancing or supplementing with more addictive drugs.

Unfortunately, I have two nephews and one niece that died of drug overdose.  In their early teens, they entertained and enjoyed Marijuana.  It was never enough!

There are absolutely no spiritual benefits to Marijuana use.   Golden idols and material objects have been a popular form of worshipping throughout history.  Marijuana is this!  Nothing more!  Nothing less ...unless, used solely for medical purposes.

  1. Some...and by some I mean a lot of people would argue that it does promote spirituality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rastafari_movement#Spiritual_use_of_cannabis

I how ever have seen the flip side of the coin and have seen lives ruined by it. Those that use it for spiritual purposes would probably argue that those people have abused it and thus are not using it for its true purpose. Even tho I am apposed to legalizing it, I felt like practicing some critical thinking. Lol

  2. I will practice critical thinking as well. I do not agree, but I can see why some people would think that using marijuana would be a spiritual experience. I think some people who use drugs recreationally tend to abuse the drug and then in the end they worship it. It rules all of their activities. It becomes their way of life. They think of nothing else. They do nothing else. All their goals and ambitions are to acquire more drugs and spend more of their time using those drugs. They worship the drug and only feel that they are "right" when using. What about those who say they are murdering and committing horrific crimes for spiritual reasons? Is that good? Is it ok if it is spiritual? Just some thoughts.

    1. Gina, Your comments were well expressed. It does rule their lives. We have some dear friends, whose daughter has lost all of her 5 children to drugs and has been in prison for the past 2 l/2 years. What a waste!! Thanks so much, Dian
